Hormone Therapy for Men

Restore Strength. Regain Focus. Reclaim Your Health.

Hormonal imbalances in men are more common than many realize — and they don’t just affect older adults. Men can start experiencing shifts in key hormones like testosterone, DHEA, cortisol, and insulin as early as their 30s, often triggered by stress, poor sleep, excess weight, or underlying health conditions. Left untreated, these imbalances can impact energy, mood, motivation, and long-term health.

Common Hormone
Issues in Men

These issues often overlap, creating a cycle of low energy, poor performance, and declining quality of life.

  • Low Testosterone (Low T): Decreased libido, loss of muscle mass, fatigue, weight gain, irritability

  • Elevated Cortisol (Stress Hormone): Sleep issues, belly fat, anxiety, insulin resistance

  • Low DHEA: Reduced stamina, mental fog, poor recovery, low motivation

  • Insulin Resistance: Difficulty losing weight, increased cravings, fatigue after meals

  • Low IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor): Poor recovery, aging skin, decreased muscle and bone strength

Key Hormones We Focus On

Testosterone

Declining testosterone is one of the most common hormone issues in men. We evaluate both total and free testosterone levels to develop targeted therapy that restores your strength, stamina, and mental sharpness.

DHEA & Cortisol

DHEA is a precursor to testosterone and plays a key role in immune function, energy, and resilience. Cortisol, your primary stress hormone, can become dysregulated — leading to fatigue, belly fat, sleep issues, and burnout. We assess both to identify adrenal imbalances that could be draining your system.

Insulin

When insulin is unregulated, it becomes almost impossible to lose weight or gain lean muscle. This combo can lead to insulin resistance, fatigue, and chronic inflammation. Our approach includes labs and lifestyle-based strategies to restore metabolic function.

Managing Andropause Symptoms

“Just Getting Older” Shouldn’t Mean Feeling Miserable.  Andropause, often referred to as "male menopause", is the gradual decline of testosterone and other hormones in men, typically beginning in the 30s or 40s. While natural, this shift can lead to frustrating symptoms like fatigue, low libido, weight gain, depression, irritability, loss of muscle mass, and decreased motivation.

The good news? You don’t have to live with it.

At Dr. McBride’s practice, we help men manage andropause with a comprehensive, hormone-centered approach. We go beyond just a testosterone evaluation to build a treatment plan that restores your energy, sharpens your focus, and brings back your drive. Through customized therapy, lifestyle strategies, and regular monitoring, we help you feel like yourself again — no guesswork, no one-size-fits-all solutions.

Androgen Deficiency in the Aging Male (ADAM) Assessment Questions

The Androgen Deficiency in the Aging Male “ADAM”

Questionnaire is a useful tool for screening and self-assessment to detect men at risk for androgen deficiency:

  1. Do you have a decrease in libido (sex drive)?

  2. Are your erections less strong?

  3. Do you have a lack of energy?

  4. Do you have a decrease in strength and/or endurance?

  5. Have you lost height?

  6. Have you noticed a decreased “enjoyment of life"?

  7. Are you sad and/or grumpy?

  8. Have you noticed a recent deterioration in your ability to play sports?

  9. Are you falling asleep after dinner?

  10. Has there been a recent deterioration in your work performance?

If you answered “yes” to either of the first two questions OR if you answered, “yes” to three other questions, you MAY have androgen deficiency (low testosterone).
